As an inspirational working space with accommodation on the west coast of Scotland, Crear connects individuals and organisations across the arts worldwide through innovative residencies & collaborations. Crear & the charity space to create, hosts & supports over 100 days a year of artistic projects including writers retreats, masterclasses, recordings, public concerts & education workshops.
The doors are kept open by all the wonderful weddings hosted throughout the year, in addition to support from public funding & private donations.
Crear offers inspirational working space, combining studio space with stylish living space
Crear house & studio is a purpose built renovation to create the ideal 'space to create.' Available to hire on an exclusive use basis by the day, we offer total flexibility to facilitate your project & will work with you to provide all the services you require.
Perched on a hillside with far reaching views to the Western Isles, Crear is remote & secluded, yet intimate & welcoming, ensuring your complete privacy in warm & stylish surroundings
A Steinway Model D & Yamaha S6 are on site plus all the technical support & service facilities you would expect.
Space to express yourself
Originally a byre, the main studio is larger than a tennis court & is lit by a continuous glass wall overlooking the Paps of Jura as well as overhead skylights. With 24 hour access to the studio space, there are no noise restrictions or flight paths overhead to disturb.
Underfloor heating ensures it is warm & cosy year round with an oak wooden floor.
Space to recharge
Crear has three twin bedrooms, two king-size double bedrooms & one bunkroom - space for twelve in all. All bedrooms have en-suite bath or shower room. We have a further three en-suite bedrooms & large living space in Caisealrag Cottage - space for six allowing for upto eighteen to stay between the two. More accommodation is available locally.
Wherever you look, the emphasis at Crear & Caisealrag Cottage is on comfort & warmth. Enjoy the simplicity of wood panelled walls & warm slate floors. Sink into one of the deep armchairs or sofas in front of the open fire & wood burning stove. Walk straight on to rolling fields & open hills, or onto rugged coastal paths & sandy beaches.
