Chateau Haut Peyrous is owned by Marc Darroze who was born into a family of Gascogne restaurateurs. - in fact his sister Helene Darroze boasts two Michelin stars at her wonderful restaurant in the Connaught Hotel in London. 22. L'origine Reserve, Yves Duport, Bugey, France ORGANIC Brut 2013

Bugey is a little-known region to the east of Burgundy and the west of Savoie. There is a great culture of dry sparkling wine production in this region, and Yves Duport is right at the top of the heap. Blend of Chardonnay and Pinot. Not quite Champagne but real close – look for golden apples and Anjou pears, a touch of ginger and some nutmeggy spices. £27.00

Janisson Brut Tradition is low in production but big on owner’s love and attention. Rich with aromas of hazelnut, almond and honey. £48.00


24. Davenport "Limney", Kent, England Brut NV ORGANIC

Will Davenport talks artisan and acts artisan.  Production is small and he is committed to quality and through natural means.  He uses only the wild yeast and minimal sulphur, only 59 ml/gr of total sulphur in this wine.  The vines of Auxerrois and Pinot Noir were planted in 1993 in Rotherfield and are now truly showing their potential. Smokey, toasty apricots, apple crumble, ripe strawberries, lime, honey and mature spice - delicious! £45.00
